Ryan Simon is filmmaker in Venice, CA. Starting his career at Anonymous Content, Ryan worked closely with award winning filmmakers to develop and produce content for global entertainment distributors and brands. In 2010 he founded Strike Anywhere with a group of diverse filmmakers set on carrying their cinematic storytelling forward to connect with audiences. A documentarian with a keen eye, Ryan is noted for examinations of youth culture and southern California lifestyle. He’s directed spots for Google, Facebook, Skype and GE. As well as, music videos for Broken Social Scene, Islands, and Dante Elephante.
His debut documentary feature, The Black Jacket was released by Virgil Films on Netflix and has quickly become quintessential viewing for educators and audiences interested bettering communities through social action. Ryan is constantly inspired by opportunities to take what he experiences in communities and share it with audiences. His hope is that the films can make a difference in the world by showcasing what is possible. Some of this change will be small and subtle, but every small step forward, is just that – a step forward. Outside of his work as a filmmaker, Ryan is an avid surfer and photographer.
