The art world continues to embrace Michael Jang! Following the success of our documentary, photographer Michael Jang’s work is being celebrated at SFMOMA with special screenings and exhibitions throughout 2025. Jang’s commissioned work “The Whole Story” remains on view as part of SFMOMA’s Bay Area Walls series, where his playful interventions continue to evolve the installation with new images and designs. The museum describes his work as capturing “iconic moments in San Francisco’s history while exploring the complexities of identity and belonging.” From his 1970s documentation of punk scenes and family life to his recent guerrilla wheat-pasting projects, Jang’s photographs reveal an artist who has always understood how to find profound meaning in life’s quirky, unexpected moments. His inclusion in SFMOMA’s permanent collection marks a well-deserved recognition for an artist whose “mischievous” eye has been quietly documenting American culture for over five decades.
