At Vice Media, Gibbons’ work garnered millions of earned media impressions. His knack for telling stories that resonate covered topics including civil rights, capitalism, mass incarceration, technology, and hip-hop culture.
Akil continues to create impactful work for studios, networks, and brands as a director, cinematographer and producer. Directing clients include AT&T, Google, Goldman Sachs, Intel, LinkedIn and MasterCard.
Gibbons is part of the Black Filmmakers Collective, composed of over 100 producers, directors, and cinematographers whose initiative Change the Lens is committed to increasing the number of Black workers at all levels of the commercial and music video industry.
